High School Musical 3 Oscar Buzz

With about 3 months until the award ceremony, High School Musical 3: Senior Year is getting some Oscar buzz. The buzz is about the music. HSM3 has 11 original songs in it. This year’s Oscar rules state that only 2 songs per movie can be nominated for the award. There are 4 songs that are receiving the buzz.  Let’s take a look at each of them.

Can I Have this Dance? which is sung by Troy and Gabriella (Efron & Hudgens) and was written by Adam Anders & Nikki Hassman

Scream which is sung by Troy (Efron) and was written by Jamie Houston

A Night to Remember which is sung by the entire cast and was written by Matthew Gerrard & Robbie Nevil

I Want it All which is features Sharpay and Ryan (Tisdale and Grabeel)and is sung by the entire cast. It was also written by  Matthew Gerrard & Robbie Nevil

I know what my favorites are but I want to know your thoughts.  Of these four songs, which is your favorite? Please leave me a comment and let me know your thoughts on these songs. I’ll compile them together and we will see where we stand. Let all your friends know about this blog and get them involved in ourHSM3 discussion.  See Ya!

Lucas Grabeel

We have another cast birthday this week.  On Sunday, November 23 Lucas Grabeel turns 24.  Lucas was born November 23, 1984 in Springfield, Missouri.  He was active in community and school theatre productions since he was a young child.  He is an accomplished singer, dancer and actor. In 2003 he graduated high school in Missouri and then moved to Los Angeles to persue an acting career.  He quickly found success and in 2004 he appeared as Ethan the Warlock in Disney Channel’s Halloweentown High.

Since arriving in L.A., Lucas has appeared in 6 movies with three others in production as well as 9 television shows including High School Musical, High School Musical 2, Halloweentown High, and Return to Halloweentown all on the Disney Channel.  He also appeared as himself on the 2006 and 2007 Disney Channel Games, in several direct-to-video High School Musical projects and interview shows.

High School Musical 3-Australia

Last week was a busy one for the stars of High School Musical 3. They attended two different premieres in Australia. Monday they were in Sydney and Tuesday in Melbourne.  Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale and Kenny Ortega spent last Sunday taking in some of the sights around Sydney on a water taxi tour. Monday started with a photo shoot overlooking the beautiful Sydney Harbor then some press interviews before heading back to get ready for the premiere.

Disney had provided extra security around the theatre and requested extra help from local police.  Since the big HSM3 fans were in school on Monday, there were lots of mothers staking out their territory along the red carpet up to 12 hours before the event.  Then, as school was dismissed the young fans arrived and joined their moms.  An estimated 1500 people showed up for the event at the Greater Union George Street Cinemas in Sydney.  The stars introduced the movie but didn’t stay to watch it.  The girls headed off for a little retail therapy while Zac closed down a gym so he could workout in peace.

Later Monday evening the flew to Melbourne.  Tuesday was another day filled with interviews in preparation for the premiere at the Village Jam Factory.  The Melbourne crowd was estimated at 2 times the size of that in Sydney. The 3000 screaming fans showered the stars with flowers, gifts and cards as they made their way down the red carpet.  There were lots of complaints after the event that the stars were ingrateful and just handed the gifts off to handlers who wisked them away. The stars were busy signing hundreds of autographs, and that is hard to do with your hands full of gifts. High School Musical 3 officially opens down under on December 4th.

High School Musical 3: Senior Year-Right Here! Right Now!

Last month at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World a new show debuted. High School Musical 3: Senior Year-Right Here! Right Now! Is a pep rally type stage production that takes place several times a day. The show usuallyGet Your Head in the Game takes place in front of the Sorcerer’s Hat in the Streets of America.  This is the third incarnation of the live stage show at Walt Disney World. I have seen the first two productions and can’t wait to get back to Disney’s Hollywood Studios to check out this third installment. High School Musical 3: Senior Year-Right Here! Right Now! is an exciting production with a cast of 14 high energy singers and dancers.  During the show they perform six songs from High School Musical3: Senior Year. The audience is encouraged to sing and dance along with the cast during the performance. If you are headed to Walt Disney World make sure you check your times guide and be a part of High School Musical 3: Senior Year-Right Here! Right Now! Here are a few pictures I took in September 2007.

High School Musical 3 Coming Soon, Cast Returning

People is reporting today that all 6 of the stars from High School Musical 2 are returning for the third installment of the uber popular movie series. Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu, Monique Coleman and Lucas Grabeel will all star in what is supposed to be the final High School Musical film.

According to the studio, HSM 3: Senior Year finds high school seniors Troy [Zac Efron] and Gabriella [Vanessa Hudgens] facing the prospect of being separated from one another as they head off in different directions to college. Joined by the rest of the Wildcat crew, they stage an elaborate spring musical reflecting their experiences, hopes and fears about their future.

Vanessa Signs On To Star In New Movie, “Will”

VanessaVanessa Hudgens is staying busy these days, and just this week has announced that she will be playing a role in the upcoming film, “Will”.

The film is set to begin shooting next month in Austin, Texas and was written by Todd Graff. The film’s script centers on a high school outcast and a popular girl who form an unlikely bond through their shared love of music.

They assemble a like-minded crew of misfits and form a rock group to perform in a battle of the bands competition at their school.

Hudgens character is “Sam”, a 15-year-old former stutterer now speaking slowly and deliberately, who becomes romantically entangled with the lead outcast.
